It's coming! Mercedes-AMG are going to be launching the Project One hypercar later this year, and here we get a very special preview look at the powertrain and development work under the skin that is quite literally bringing a Formula 1 engine into a road car.

275 units are due to be built with the final car being unveiled to the public at the Frankfurt IAA in September. This is the first time we've seen what's going to be running it, with a view of the technology from the hybrid 1.6l turbocharged V6 to the additional motors on the front wheels using technology tested through the SLS AMG Electric Drive. The total output though, over 1,000 horsepower, get ready!

Before arriving at the AMG stand, I stopped by the test drive paddock where the entire line-up happened to leave right on cue, giving us an opportunity to take a look at the entire fleet. From the modern cars including AMG GT R, GT C Roadster, C63 S, E63 S through the more recent special cars like the SLS AMG Black Series, C63 Black Series, SL65 Black Series and even the CLK Black Series but also the E55 AMG, C43 and the Hammer. Also on display sat a 300SEL Rote Sau too!
