Le Mans winner and Bugatti test driver Andy Wallace reached the top speed of exactly 490.484 km/h (304.773 mph) on August 2, 2019, on the test track at Ehra-Lessien in Lower Saxony. “An incredible speed. It’s inconceivable that a car would be capable of this. But the Chiron was well prepared and I felt very safe – even in these high-speed ranges,” says Andy Wallace. He worked his way up to the top speed from 300 km/h in 50 km/h increments to make sure all the conditions were right and the Chiron was optimally balanced in terms of lift and downforce. “Even in the first attempt, I felt this would work. The Chiron ran perfectly and the track and weather conditions were ideal. The whole team did a fantastic job,” says Wallace, overjoyed at the accomplishment.

After one lap to condition the Chiron, Andy Wallace accelerated out of the north curve to 200 km/h to reach top speed on the 8.8 kilometres straight. At a precisely defined braking point, he decelerated the Chiron back to 200 km/h to drive through the south bend. He had a distance of two kilometres in which to do so. “I went at full throttle from the start for approximately 70 seconds. It was important for me to be out of the bend at 200 km/h in order to reach top speed on the straight. That required the very highest level of concentration,” says the new record-holder. He covered 136 metres in one second.

I’m invited to the official first reveal of the world record breaking Chiron Super Sport 300+ at their headquarters in France. It’s the first time a production car has broken through the 300mph barrier. I chat to the driver Andy Wallace who was behind the wheel, and to Frank Heyl from the design team about how this car was able to make these speeds. 30 of these cars will be made. The car will have the exact same engine and design as this, when it is delivered to the consumer. Only the interior will be different, which we address in the video. Take a look!

This is the car that briefly held the production car speed record between the Veyron and the Veyron Supersport. The Shelby SuperCars SSC Ultimate Aero TT has a V8 with a twin-turbo. It held the speed record at 257mph and came at a cost of $650,000; it is now owned by Elo’s London Motor Museum where it is on display.

In this video you see some shots of the car followed by the start up and some loud revving!

RECORD LAP: Porsche 911 GT2 RS NURBURGRING Nordschleife WORLD RECORD. GT2 RS is the fastest Porsche 911 of all time at 6 minutes, 47.3 seconds

►►► NEW VIDEO 2018 – Porsche 911 GT3 RS Onboard on Nürburgring Nordschleife ►► https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AT9QtuK522A

Porsche set a new record for road-approved sports cars on the 20.6-kilometre Nürburgring Nordschleife in the 911 GT2 RS on September 20. The record time of 6 minutes and 47.3 seconds was achieved in the presence of a notary and surpassed even Porsche’s own expectations.

Frank-Steffen Walliser, Vice President Motorsport and GT Cars, said: “At the start of the development process, we set ourselves a lap time target for the GT2 RS of less than 7 minutes and 5 seconds. The credit for beating this target by 17.7 seconds goes to our development engineers, mechanics and drivers, who demonstrated an exceptionally strong team performance. This result makes it official: The GT2 RS is not only the most powerful, but also the fastest 911 ever built”.

This record was not a one-off: Lars Kern (30) from Germany and Nick Tandy (32) from the UK broke the previous record for road-approved sports cars (6 minutes, 52.01 seconds) in their first attempt and subsequently finished five laps in under 6 minutes, 50 seconds.

Andreas Preuninger, Director GT Model Line, says: “It’s not just the record time achieved by the GT2 RS that demonstrates the vehicle’s class, but also its consistent performance in every lap. We’re particularly proud of the fact that this was achieved with two different vehicles and two different drivers, as this underlines the GT2 RS’s ability to reproduce this record result over and over again”.

Porsche factory driver Tandy travelled straight from a six-hour race in Austin, Texas to the Nürburgring, swapping the Le Mans prototype Porsche 919 Hybrid for the 515-kW (700-hp) 911 GT2 RS with Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tyres in impressive style.

It was Lars Kern, a Porsche test driver by trade with a passion for racing, who ultimately set the final record time. Alongside the Carrera Cup Australia, Kern regularly competes in the VLN Endurance Championship on the Nürburgring and knows the Nordschleife inside out. The subsequent record lap began at 7:11 pm and finished 6 minutes and 47.3 seconds later in ideal outdoor conditions. As is customary for record drives, the time was measured along the 20.6-kilometre stretch. The vehicle’s average speed was 184.11 km/h.

The fastest and most powerful road-approved 911 celebrated its world premiere at the Festival of Speed in Goodwood in the UK at the end of June. At the heart of this high-performance sports car is a 515-kW (700-hp) six-cylinder biturbo flat engine. Weighing in at 1,470 kg with a full fuel tank, the lightweight two-seater accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds.

The rear-wheel drive Coupé has a top speed of 340 km/h and with its near-motorsport drive technology, the new 911 GT2 RS trumps its 3.6-litre predecessor by 59 kW (80 hp) and achieves a torque of 750 Newton metres (an increase of 50 Nm).

fastest production car in the world — record run

The SSC Ultimate Aero broke Koenigsegg’s official, and Bugatti’s unofficial production car speed record on 09/13/2007, setting a new mark of 256.18mph on a two lane highway in rural Washington State. This video is a compilation of clips from SSC’s historic run.

On this episode of Ignition, Angus Mackenzie pays a visit to Molsheim, France to explore the history and development behind the world’s most expensive street legal super car, the Bugatti Veyron. The Veyron has a turbocharged 16-cylinder engine that makes more than 1000hp, can accelerate to 60mph in about 2.7 seconds, goes faster than 250mph, and costs well over a million dollars. Afterwards, Angus then heads to Ehra-Lessien near Wolfsburg, Germany to witness the next iteration of the Veyron, the Vitesse, take on a top speed record challenge, before ultimately getting behind the wheel himself.

World record for the BUGATTI Chiron: the 1,500 PS super car has accelerated from a standing start to 400 km/h (249 mph) and braked back to a standstill in just 42 seconds (41.96). This is the fastest time ever reached and officially measured for this driving manoeuvre for a production vehicle throughout the world. The Chiron completed the manoeuvre in a distance of only 3.112 kilometres. This underscores the supercar’s unique position in the extreme performance range. The world record was set by Juan Pablo Montoya, winner of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix, two-time winner of the Indy 500 and three-time winner of the 24 hours of Daytona. The 0-400-0 manoeuvre is the first step on the way to a new world speed record for production vehicles which Bugatti intends to set in 2018 and a further highlight in the success story of the Chiron.

Please note: The video shows the actual 0-400-0 run in real time, so it is 41.96 seconds long.

The Koenigsegg Agera RS driven by Niklas Lilja achieves a new world record top speed for a road-legal production vehicle.

High speed runs were conducted on a closed section of US Highway 160 near Pahrump, Nevada, on November 4th 2017. Runs were made in both directions to compensate for any variation in topography and prevailing wind.

The Agera RS achieved a new top speed record for a production vehicle, being 446.97 km/h (277.87 mph) when averaged out over both runs.

All vehicle data was recorded independently by Racelogic and the film above is taken directly from the Racelogic system, with data overlaid for video presentation.

The Orange County Festival of Speed was incredible. Not only did we get to see the most expensive cars in the world all gathered in one place..we got to see them driven hard on the track as well. Some of the cars including the Koenigsegg Agera RS World Record Edition which broke the world record for top speed at 277.9mph and beat the Bugatti Chiron 0-400-0 with ease. After the egg we got to see the Bugatti Chiron get tracked which I never thought I would see in my life and finally the Pagani Zonda Cinque which is 1 of 5 and valued at over $10,000,000 and is one of the most expensive cars on the planet! I hope you enjoyed watching as much as I did filming!
