Edmunds’ Alistair Weaver and Carlos Lago test and compare the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and the 2018 Porsche 911 GT3. For similar money, these two super sports cars deliver massive driving thrills and motorsports technology for the street. The ZR1 is the highest-performing Corvette available, with 755 horsepower and a wild optional track package that gives it huge sticky tires and an enormous wing. The GT3 may not have the power bragging rights, but it represents a purity of focus. It’s built alongside real race cars, and its 4.0-liter engine revs to a beautiful 9,000 rpm. Which one is the most fun on the road and at the racetrack? Watch to find out!

Q: What kind of engine and transmission do the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and the 2018 Porsche 911 GT3 have?
A: The Corvette has a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 (755 horsepower and 715 pound-feet of torque) and an optional eight-speed automatic. The 911 GT3 uses a 4.0-liter flat-six (500 hp and 339 lb-ft of torque) and an optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The ZR1’s as-tested price totaled $131,300. Significant options for the Porsche included carbon-ceramic brakes ($9,210) and bucket-style seats ($5,200) for an as-tested price of $160,900.

law man says:

So let me get this straight the zr1 is a better handling car better on the skid pad as well as braking lol and they say the Porsche is better on the track yea ok then

NetGawker says:

The Vette has killer specs but shitty looks

Jerome p says:

The cars should be compared by power so the proper Porsche would be the GT2RS

Stephen Lane says:

The money justification is stupid. The gt3 is still a ton more actually. You might as well use the gt2rs. But im guessing you know the zr1 wouldnt stand a chance on a track against it. Just call it like it is. You wanted a fair fight.

averagepainter says:

comparing the cars by price – wow… so 755HP vs 500HP=fair because the vette is cheaper? what a joke. you're buying cheap power! the porsch is the better car clearly.

Top Automotive Inc says:

Turbo s would be a proper comparison agains a corvette

Opinion Matters says:

I’d never buy a Porsche unless it’s an old one. Too many other better options…at better prices

A Ahmad says:

When it comes to show status, the Porsche is the car.
Consequently, the 911 has better residual value…

I don't know how the Corvette is not capable of beating the Porsche, it has so much more torque, power and an additional gear. Maybe the torque curve is terrible as a result of incompetent GM engineers.

[] says:

How is the zr1 that slow in the 0-60 times ? It's doing 2.8s 0 to 60 with other drivers and tracks ?

keith savall says:

I can pretty much guarantee if you drove both of them you would prefer the Porsche after some time in it.

Paul Soto says:

America 🇺🇸 ZR1

Areku06 says:

GT3 is just amazing, especially GT3 RS. Dream car. Corvette is good but GTR3 is superior. Plus it will be worth more in 10 years. Zr1 will loose 50-70% of its value.
