Aston Martin’s new DBS Superleggera might not actually be ‘Superlegerra,’ or super-light, at 4,000 lbs. But with a carbon body, it is lighter than the DB11 on which it is based. More importantly is the massage work that goes into the twin-turbo V12 engine, which now makes 715 HP and so much torque that the ECU refuses to deliver it to you whole until you reach fourth gear and nearly 100 mph. It can easily spin the tires at 80 mph if you disable traction control, which is exactly our definition of “elegant.” The leather work is sublime, the Mercedes infotainment mean that stuff works, and the ride quality, for a 700-HP, front-engined car, is best in class. You just gotta stomach the $340,000 sticker price to get one.

Aston Martin provided the vehicle, insurance, and a tank of gas for this review.
